Del-Bourree
Bach
(American,
b.1953) is a Contemporary realist known for his striking and almost tactile
depictions of man and nature. Although many of his works are inspired by the sea
and the life in and around it, he paints a range of subjects, from rural farms
and Western vistas to city sidewalks. His paintings invite viewers to enter into
the scene, and challenge them to create their own stories. Primarily a studio
painter, he works mainly in acrylic, but occasionally uses transparent
watercolor.
Bach’s
work is included in many private and public collections, including the Florence
Griswold Museum in Connecticut, the Albrecht Kemper Museum in Missouri, the
Salmagundi Club in New York, and the US Embassy and Coast Guard art collections.
He has received more than 150 awards, including an Award of Excellence at the
33rd International Exhibition of Marine Art at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic
Seaport, and the Samuel T. Shaw Award at the Salmagundi Club of New York. In
2012 and 2013, his work received prizes at the Copley Society of Boston, the
Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and the Academic Artists Association, among
others. He was also recently honored by the Artists for Conservation for
“Artistic Excellence and Extraordinary Dedication to Conservation,” and was
a triple finalist in the The
Artists’ Magazine competition
in 2012. In 2006, he was the first artist to be awarded the newly minted Robert
Sanstrom Gold Medal and Prize by the National Society of Painters in Casein and
Acrylic. In 2003, he received the George Gray Award from the US Coast Guard,
and, in 2011, received the Silver Medal of Honor from the Allied Artists of
America. His painting Time

The Alden Bryan Award for Traditional Landscape.
